LOCATION

Cascais. Glamour, serenity and natural surroundings. 20 minutes west from Lisbon and Airport

CASCAIS

CLOSE ENOUGH, FAR ENOUGH

20 minutes west of Lisbon and Lisbon airport, The Oitavos is situated alongside the Sintra Mountains and Europe’s most westerly point, Cabo de Roca, which can be seen from its setting along the Estoril and Cascais Coast.

Surroundings

Overlooking the protected sand dunes, the Atlantic coast and its surrounding beaches, it is truly a remarkable destination ideal for travellers in search of nature and escape.

The pretty coastal town of Cascais is located a short distance from The Oitavos and makes a pleasant walk along the coast.

It also features the harbour where guests can take boat rides to nearby attractions, including Lisbon. There are other sandy beaches in the area, including Guincho, famous for its surfing.

Sintra, a town on the UNESCO World Heritage and Cascais, is in close proximity to the hotel.

HERITAGE

One man’s vision transformed an entire region forever. His name Carlos Champalimaud.

A family heritage.

Warmth and hospitality.

Visionary Carlos Montez Champalimaud discovered this magnificent place on the Estoril Coast in 1908.

It was in the 1920’s that Champalimaud embarked on a bold vision to create a residential estate and tourist destination of exceptional quality on Portugal’s Atlantic Coast, near the fishing village of Cascais.

Extending along the coast between the sea, sand-dunes and pines, the 168-hectare of Quinta da Marinha forms an integral part of the Sintra – Cascais Natural Park.

In September 2010, The Oitavos hotel was opened to complete the family project and give an international dimension.

Today its location, quality and environment make it the best residential and tourist destination in the Greater Lisbon area.

Passionate about wine and gastronomy, the Champalimaud family also owns the vineyards of Quinta do Côtto and Teixeiró in the Douro.
